Bought this having read about it and it lives up to the praise - lovely wine! Thanks to Nick for his great selection of clarets, well done!

Description and Press Reviews
Wine Style:  Medium Bodied Red

Château Bellefont Belcier dates back to the 17th century. Count Louis François de Belcier founded the vineyard on the southern slopes of Saint Emilion between Châteaux Pavie and Larcis Ducasse in the commune of Saint Laurent de Combes. The Count built the Château in 1803 and named it Bellefont (Beautiful Fountain) after the many springs rising from the chalky clay slopes.

Previously held by the one time owners of First Growth Chateau Cheval Blanc, Bellefont Belcier has been recently acquired by Juxin wine & Spirits, a Chinese company looking to invest in a top quality Saint Emilion.

Robert Parker 89 - 91 points. While the dark ruby/purple-tinged 2006 may not equal the brilliance of the 2005, it is a successful effort exhibiting aromas of coffee beans, roasted herbs, black cherries, plums, and earth. With medium to full body, moderate levels of sweet tannin, and a long finish, this sleeper of the vintage should drink nicely between 2010-2020

Wine Pairing:  Superb with Nick's Recipe for Roast Partridge with Whisky and Ginger Sauce
