A flavoursome champagne that has depth, character and style. Very easy to drink and extremely moreish.

As champagne goes this is a very nice example of a wine that offers everything that a good champagne should structure, flavour and without too much acidity. Great value at the price.

The price belies its quality. At a recent birthday party we served the Grand Reserve and thought we had run out. In the meantime our caterers started to pour a well known champagne that guests had bought as presents. To my amazement some of our guests were discarding this branded product on my lawn when the lost case was found under a treasle table, as they were offered a top up!

Description & Press Reviews:
Wine Style: Champagne

This is not your average Champagne – a Grande Reserve Champagne is one that has Champagne added to it from a reserved vintage which is the flagship of the House. This is truly superb.

This Champagne is made by Philippe Secondé who is a descendant of the famous Champagne House of Edmond Barnaut in Bouzy, founded in 1874. Bouzy is famous for Pinot Noir of enormous personality, ripeness and richness and is one of the top Champagne vineyards - you'll find the world's most famous Champagnes grow their grapes in Bouzy – Taittinger, Veuve Cliquot, Moet and Chandon. Unlike these Champagnes you are not paying for the name. Philippe's Champagnes - Champagne Secondé-Collard - are totally exclusive to Bordeaux-Undiscovered, you won't be able to find them any where else in the UK.

Robert Parker awarded this Champagne 90 points:
“Barnaut's Grand Cru Grande Reserve reveals generous notes of apricots, honey, roasted nuts and smoke, showing outstanding persistence and a long, refined finish. This is a fairly full-bodied style of champagne that already shows nice tertiary complexity.”

robert_parker.jpgThe Wine Advocate:
The Grande Reserve: apricot, honey, roasted hazel nuts and smoke, shows exceptional length and persistence ending in a smooth finale. It is a style of Champagne which has body and very pleasant complexity.

daily_mail.jpgThe Daily Mail:
Think Champers, and you think the big name brands that racing drivers spray over each other. But one of the key benefits of visiting the Champagne region is to get out and about and see the smaller producers whose bubbly is often as good - and considerably cheaper.

There are dozens, not least Edmond BARNAUT in the splendidly named village of BOUZY, east of Epernay.

The Grand Reserve Brut is first class, and your're meeting a real wine-maker, not a uniformed guide.
