CHATEAU LE RONDAILH 2011 - Bordeaux Moelleux

£8.99

Bordeaux Moelleux.  Truly gorgeous off dry / semi-sweet wine with superb balance.  Characterised by its expressiveness in the mouth which is vibrant, fresh and lively.  Flavours of pear, peach, melon and lemon with delicate notes of hazelnut and crystallized pineapple. Very well crafted; the sensation of sweetness being ethereal and light.

80% Semillon, 20% Sauvignon Blanc.  11.5% abv.  75cl

very new world like but without the high alcohol and all the better for it. very good table wine, not to many dimentions and takes a while for the nose to come through in the glass but when it does it is again very new world but not over powering. Will buy again.

For its price I think this wine offers great value. Slightly heavier than some but has lots of fruit and goes really well with red meat and BBQs

We served your Les Tonnells at our office opening with a verity of canap

I can see why one of the journalists wrote that it is a big up front wine. It does have a New World style to it but it offers more fruit in the mouth and wonderful aromas from the glass.

Fronsac is a little unknown region but produces from very nice wines and this is no exception. It is well balanced with fruit, tannins and oak complimenting food very nicely.

Description & Press Reviews:
Wine Style: Semi Sweet White

Chateau Le Rondailh, owned by the Pallaruelo family for several generations in Sainte Foy La Longue, makes a classic and increasingly rare Bordeaux wine.  Their semi-sweet white wine is a Bordeaux Moelleux which we don't often see feted outside France.

The AOC Bordeaux Moelleux is difficult to pin down; its meaning has become somewhat lost in translation.  When used in reference to wine the French term Moelleux describes the sensation of the wine as well as its taste:  'soft, smooth, velvety, lush, mellow'.   These types of wines are quite exceptional – slightly sweet, rounded and supple with mouth quenching acidity and superb balance.  It's a crime that we miss out on them here in the UK so we are absolutely delighted to be able to offer Le Rondailh at Bordeaux-Undiscovered.

Le Rondailh sits on the hills in Saint Macaire which lies on the right bank of the River Garonne between Sauternes and Saint Emilion.   The vineyard stretches out over three communes:  Sainte Foy La Longue, Saint Laurent du Bois and Saint Martial and covers 98 acres – 24 of which are dedicated to Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown especially for their white wines.

Chateau Le Rondailh is a wine that would be a fantastic aperitif but it's also a brilliant food wine that will accompany hot and spicy Asian dishes, curry, African-Caribbean cuisine, desserts, chocolate, cheeses (try it with Roquefort or Goats Cheese), pâtés, poultry, rabbit and seafood.
