UUgni Blanc A white grape variety planted in small amounts in Bordeaux, but very common in the southwest of France and in Cognac. Produces a lively, nervous wine that has little potential for ageing. In Bordeaux, it lends vivacity to certain AOC blends. Unbalanced Describes wine that lacks balance. For example, a white wine with too much acidity (due to not-quite-ripe grapes) or tannins that are too harsh (cuvaison that was too long). In Bordeaux, due to the long tradition of blending different grape varieties with complementary characteristics, Bordeaux wines are typically balanced. |
