Wine Style:  Dry Red

This is a cracking claret from vineyards located at the South of Gironde, between Bordeaux and Bergerac.  The south facing slopes overhang the Dordogne river and the soils are chalk and clay.

The wine is a deep pomegranate red, fine and subtle on the nose with hints of blackberries, vanilla, cherries and smoke.  It is a rounded and supple and with a good length on the palate and has fine and light tannins.

Being Merlot based Les Eymeries will pair well with most dishes, both red and white meats  and even fish such as tuna or salmon.  It's a great summer red so bear it in mind for your BBQs!

“2005 Château Les Eymeries, 13.5% vol (£6.62 reduced from £8.65 while stocks last). Absurdly good value this – a 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon blend from Bordeaux. One of the classic recent vintages, it's full flavoured and fruity, with sturdy tannins and structure but an underlying subtlety and suppleness too. Classy claret for the price, it's ready to drink now with Sunday roasts etc but will keep.”
