Selected as a beautiful example of the wines from Pomerol, Les Vignes de Phoebus, is made by Grand Vins de Gironde, owned by the Borie-Manoux and Casteja families.  With a number of top flight Grand Cru chateaux throughout Bordeaux under their ownership they have been specialising in producing superb Bordeaux wines since the 1800s.

Pomerol is a tiny appellation that is famous for its Merlot and some of the most sought after wines in the world are made here.  Often described as hedonistic or exotic, Pomerol's wines are certainly well worth discovering.

Les Vignes de Phoebus (The Vines of Phoebus) is named after Phoebus, the Ancient Greek god of the Sun.  The vineyard lies in the East of Pomerol and its vines are the first in the appellation to be touched by the rays of the morning sun.  Once the dew has dried away the grapes mature more quickly here under the warm sunlight and the crop is therefore one of the first harvested. The wine they produce is excellent – nectar of the gods maybe?

Les Vignes de Phoebus pairs extremely well with dark meats such as venison, beef, duck, lamb and pigeon.  It also accompanies dishes in sumptuous sauces well, rich casseroles, goulash and spicy Indian cuisine.
