New Wines!

We have 25 new wines arriving in the next couple of weeks; Clarets from Petits Chateaux in some of the best Bordeaux AOCs - Saint Emillion satellites, Castillon, Cotes de Bourg, Graves, Saint Macaire and Bordeaux Superieur, lovely Loire Valley Whites and Roses and a range of Southern Rhones from the cradle of the Cotes.  We hope you will be as delighted with our new discoveries as we are!

Cotes de Bourg Claret

Chateau Bel Air L'Escudier 2012, Cotes de Bourg
'Bourg sits almost directly opposite the AOC of Margaux on the other side of the River Gironde. This region has seen a surprising number of vintners drawn to the area over the past few years from famous estates. It's about time Bourg found the spotlight!'

Oozing finesse with opulence and power behind it. Full, fine flavours of blackberry compote, juicy elderberry, dark chocolate, caramel and coffee with smoky, spicy notes of violets, graphite and oak. Sensuously layered and generous with silky tannins and heady aromas.

Gold Medal Claret, Saint Macaire

Chateau de Cappes 'Cuvee Cedric' 2013 - Gold Medal
'
Chateau de Cappes has been in the hands of the Boulin family since 1880 and was formerly part of the Chateau Malrome, home of the famous 19th century French painter Toulouse Lautrec!'

Ample and rich with good body. Rounded, fruity flavours of kirsch, blackberry jelly and vanilla with a lovely nose of rose petals and sweet anise with a touch of juicy blueberry. Deep, pure and plush with a lingering, long lasting finish.

Graves Claret

'This fine tuned and well structured Claret is made by the Dubrey family who have been wine makers in Graves since 1650. La Tuilerie neighbours their Chateau d'Ardennes in Illats and was previously produced as their Second Wine.'

Chateau La Tuilerie, Graves, 2012 Sleek, polished Claret from Graves. Vibrant, intense, brambly flavours of blackberry, black raspberry and damson with hints of roasted coffee beans, vanilla and dark chocolate lifted by notes of violets and candied red fruits. Rounded tannins with a long smooth finish. Firm, fresh and aromatic.

Lussac Saint Emillion Claret

Rich, fuller bodied Claret from the Lussac Saint Emilion region. Luscious flavours of blueberry, truffle and juicy blackcurrant with smoky notes of leather, caramel and sandalwood. Supple and balanced with velvet tannins and a complex nose. Well structured and generous with a black fruit and liquorice finish.

'Typical of the superb, deeply flavoured wines from this up and coming little corner of Bordeaux that has attracted some of the region's most talented producers.'

Full bodied and intense Claret. Beautifully deep flavours of blackcurrant, black cherry and plum compote with nuances of cocoa, leather and violets. Lifted by floral aromas of violets. The powerful impression on the palate combines fullness and silkiness. A long lasting finish with elegant notes of black fruit and mild spices.

Pure, fine Pinot Noir from the Loire Valley. Remarkably fresh and beautifully structured. Flavours of morello cherry, kirsch and mocha with overtones of pepper, earl gray tea and forest floor. Polished, soft tannins and lovely balance. Vibrant and full of finesse.

Le Chapitre Pinot Gris, Val de Loire 2014
'Long grown in the Loire Valley (most famously in the Coteaux d'Ancenis), Pinot Gris is the same grape as Pinot Grigio. Le Chapitre combines all the refreshing qualities of Pinot Gris in perfect harmony.'

Soft, smoky Pinot Gris from the Loire Valley. Crisp, fresh and mouth watering. Gently spiced flavours of ripe pear, white peach and lychee with a touch of lemon and ginger. Pleasantly intense aromas and very nicely balanced with floral overtones. Generous with a lingering freshness.

Les Parcelles, Chantgrillon Rose, Val de Loire 2014
'Named for the song of the crickets that chirp in the sunny Loire Valley vineyards of award winning Domaine Rethore Davy; this soft dry Rose is a real delicacy.'

Lovely Loire Valley Rose. Summer in a glass. Fresh, light, dry and fruity with flavours of dark red cherry, black raspberry and a little spice. Soft smoky overtones with deep floral notes of lilac and a touch of white pepper. Supple and smooth.

Les Parcelles, Sauvignon Blanc, Val de Loire 2014 - Gold Medal

Luscious Loire Sauvignon Blanc. Lively, full bodied and delicious. Graceful flavours of passion fruit, pear and lychee with notes of fresh grapefruit, pea pod and gooseberry. A touch of minerality. Great depth and balance. Very aromatic and wonderfully thirst quenching.

Chateau Bellevue Favereau, Bordeaux Superieur 2012 - Gold Medal. 
'An extremely good Bordeaux Superieur.  Superb value for money.'

Beautifully balanced with good density and structure. Deep, full flavours of lush blackberry, plump raisins and blackcurrant with notes of cinnamon, vanilla and sage. Lovely aromas of violets and wild strawberry in the bouquet. Rich, rounded and very expressive.

'A Claret in its prime, situated in Fronsac.  Introduced to the UK for the first time.'

Substantial and layered with wonderful maturity in the mouth. Delicious full flavours of blackberry, black raspberry and rich blackcurrant with spicy nuances of dark chocolate, liquorice and caramel. A nicely intense nose of ripe redcurrant and cocoa. Mellow, stylish and full of character.

Enticingly smooth Claret; splendidly made with velvety tannins. Deep, layered flavours of cassis (blackcurrant liqueur), rich ripe blackberry and vanilla with expressive notes of cedar, cigar box and fragrant raspberry lifted by a little touch of smokiness. Mature, mellow and beautifully balanced.

Chateau Perrot 'Cuvee Prestige' 2010 - Gold Medal 
'Lovely discovery from the smallest village in France.  Introduced to the UK for the first time.'

Supple and fruity Claret with a powerful, spicy nose and lingering aromas freshly crushed black fruits. Flavours of black cherry, cassis (blackcurrant liqueur) and mocha with notes of ripe dark plum, vanilla and toasty oak; coupled with a long fruity finish. Velvety smooth with good depth.

Southern Rhones

'Deliciously deep and elegant.'

Fine and fruit driven with satiny smooth tannins. Dense flavours of dark morello cherry, raspberry and ripe fig with subtle notes of cloves, vanilla and black pepper. A lingering finish of liquorice. Well balanced and full of finesse.
